    Buying up the customers

    Looking at the valuations this looks essentially like attempts to buy the customers of MariaDB. They've probably got less to fear from Progress than from the cowboys but I don't see a bidding war ensuing.

    Progress Software was the first company to ever face court action related to GPL infringement, against MySQL.

    This probably isn't good news.

    Given how Progress have handled the takeover of Telerik, I'm not sure whether this is good news or not. I'm really conflicted over whether it might not have been better to let the Private Equity piranhas have it.
