Well, there is hope that it will work . .

. . since the useless administrative busybodies will not be able to put their noses in to foul everything up.

This is a purely technical project, not subject to manager meddling. They'll get it working, then the managers can step in and foul things up.

    Well done to all involved

Well done - I ran a procurement at the Hartree Centre more than ten years ago and I know the amount of work involved, and how hard it is to balance all the requirements thrown at you in this sort of process. Of course it's an environment in which "management interference" exists, but most people involved are aware of the ultimate goal and my experience was that it's possible to steer round these things and get a good result.

    Shiny new toy

I'm glad that things like this are being built here in Blighty. But I can't help thinking that the Science and Technologies Facilities Council should have named itself the Science and Technologies Facilities Unit.

Sorry, it had to be done!

Paid for by all, used by profit making big companies

Such a con, the Hartree model is to get funding from the taxpayer to benefit big companies such as IBM, Lenovo, Rolls-Royce just to name a few. They allocate all the commute time to the big companies, genuine research and Universities get hardly anything out of it!
