    I'll just point out that 6% annual attrition could be in line with expectations, and is close the discrepancy between prior layoff counts provided and the delta in overall headcount.

      According to zippia.com national average annual turnover is 6% involuntary plus 12% voluntary. So if Dell laid off 6650 that's 5.00% involuntary, and if they are down 13,000 overall that's an additional 4.77% voluntary. Both numbers actually sound "not so bad" compared to national averages.
