    When IT infrastructure follows business...

    ...and the business is a mess.

    This is why you need to have a sit down with your IT department after big organisational changes, and make sure the IS/IT strategy fits the organisational structure.

    They clearly just didn't care and chose the cheap and easy "hot mess" model as an afterthought, and it's come back to bite them.
