A group of more than 30 European media organizations has sued Google for €2.1 billion, seeking damages for lost revenue they say was caused by the search giant’s anticompetitive advertising technology. Looking at this story it's worth remembering the original Google situation when it was only created to help everyone find information on the internet, not help us buy anything. Originally Google was making very little money so then they started to dominate the advertising creation - an environment Google effectively "owns" these days.

So now Google is Filthy Rich and we all get advertisements all the time for almost every question ... originally advertising just showed everyone information about things, but nowadays it's only collecting all the viewers information and selling us.

Yeah, I searched for a question on US Southern restaurant chains yesterday, and it was 17 (I counted) pages past ads, "Results For [location]", "Places", "More Places", "People Also Ask", "Nearby Events And Deals", "People Also Search For", "Order Food", a SECOND "People Also Search For", "Best Fried Chicken", "Soul Food Restaurants", "Best Southern Food", "Best Chicken Chains In The South", "South Carolina Fast Food Chains", Canadian (WHAT?) Chicken Restaurants", "Things In the South That Aren't In The North", "Burger Place West Coast"...

OK, I give up typing, there was tons more shit that wasn't results.

I never found a relevant result and never got my question answered.

      Fuck Google.

Can I countersue everybody for enshittifying life with all these bloody stupid adverts that are increasingly intrusive, obtrusive, and not in the slightest bit substantive?

Axel Springer vs Google? As someone once said apropos something else, "Regrettably only one of them will lose".

"Regrettably only one of them will lose".

Don't worry about the lawyers though. Win or lose you can be assured they will be paid and very, very well indeed.

The regulators are partly to blame...

...they were all to ignorant to notice what everyone else spotted. Allowing Google to buy DoubleClick was the most short sighted merger approval in recent times.
