"Help" Ukraine by burdening Western taxpayers with ultra high energy costs? The very same taxpayers that are being asked to cough up for the military industrial complex's latest forever war?
The net effect of prolonging the Rus-Ukr war has been to kill tens of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians, ruin the infrastructure of Ukraine, hasten the deindustrialisation of the West (particularly Europe) through insane energy price rises and push Russia into the arms of China, now seemingly along with India, thus strengthening the BRICS grouping and the global south.
I think we're probably witnessing the decline of the US dollar as the reserve currency. The bully boy tactics that worked so well post-WW2 are no longer quite so effective when your opponents have almost reached the same level of economic development and, crucially, control much of the energy/mineral reserves that the modern world relies upon.
Who knows, in this crazy world, perhaps that was the intention all along?

We'll have to remember that if Putin decides to attack Moldova, Poland, Latvia, or Estonia etc. It would certainly save the U.S taxpayers some money. EU leaders got mad when it was suggested they shouldn't get to do dependent on Putin's Russia in the first place, and they should meet their defense spending goals....even after Crimiea.
Ironically the U.S has a lot of oil and LNG, but our refineries are mostly setup to handling sulfur rich crude from the middle east and Canada's tar sands rather the the low sulfur stuff from Texas etc. What a perfect time to make good on all those grandiose promises at climate conferences we've been hearing for 30+ years.
Я согласен. Запад глуп, продлевая специальную военную операцию, хотя он должен был помочь Украине в борьбе с их «нацистами» и «поощрять» Украину принять щедрое мирное предложение Владимира Путина в обмен на не что иное, как полную капитуляцию перед российскими вооруженными силами.
