    OCI is a joke

Its basically a load of oracle hardware and some virtualisation plus a UI thats designed to fool people into thinking they can compete with the hyperscalers.

You can throw as much dev at it as you like but its just lipstick on a pig.

Saved us money and works well

OCI in my experience is actually highly competitive price wise, saved out medium enterprise a significant amount of money to be fair.

It doesn’t feel like they’re trying to rip you off and in that respect some of our savings due to lack of egress charges are even charges between zones or whatever they call them.

Also the VMs we’ve deployed actually appear to run faster than when we had them in AWS so we’ve reduced the CPu count.

Overall we’re quite impressed with OCI in the UK at least.

    A few years ago...

when Oracle was starting to set up their cloud, I had an interview with the team that was to build it. I mentioned the importance of testing, and asked about their testing culture.

I've never had an interview turn so cold or so fast.

    So--not looking for work there...

      Testing !!!

Everyone in consultancy knows testing is done after deployment and at the clients expense

      Sheesh
