thereby increase the value of the company

What sort of an insane world do I live in, where a list of high scores has 'value'?

A high score on a computer game from several decades ago is about as meaningful as holding the school record for the egg and spoon race when the school closed the year after you left.

I held our schools 8 year olds egg and spoon race 100m record time until it was found I used clear tape to hold it to the spoon. Oh those innocent school years.

I'm dyspraxic. They gave me a little award for managing to drop my egg before the race had even started.

          Well, it's recognition, I guess...

Especially for Pacman, which as I understand it has an upper limit on the score achievable due to a bug in the software. Which isn't to say that playing a "perfect" game is easy, doubly so as the final playable screen is corrupted to you are playing blind.

The world record for the egg and spoon race for the year before they removed the egg and spoon race from the world championships, surely.

The same one that has football leagues.

Ooh, the sportsball fans are triggered.

IRL, I wouldn't mock anyone for either enthusiasm. But I don't feel any urge to participate, either. I mean, I occasionally play video games, and I've occasionally played sports, and even watched the latter in a social situation; but I don't actually care about them at all. I'm sure my hobbies would seem equally dreary to many others. So it goes.

Apparently he made money doing arcade tours, press etc. I know this because I watched the documentary because I was that bored one day.

        Ha! Clearly false.

There are no villages in the US. One house standing alone is a courageous lone wolf; two houses makes a teeming metropolis.
