    They (and the other big tech companies) had been over hiring for years and then getting the staff to work on useless projects, this was done to deprive start ups of programmers. Now that interest rates are higher and people are less able to form start ups this tactic is now longer needed.

    Not surprising, I can just imagine the tumble weed rolling through Google Cloud data centres. Few use them unless they have to. Less than half the uptake of Azure even with vast discounts on offer.
