back to article Today's 'China is misbehaving online' allegations come from Google, Meta

Meta and Google have disclosed what they allege are offensive cyber ops conducted by China. The Social Network™ used its Quarterly Adversarial Threat Report [PDF], published Thursday, to report it booted 4,789 Facebook accounts for violating its policy against coordinated inauthentic behavior. The operators of the accounts …

Google and Meta complaining about misbehaviour online?

    That's bloody rich.

    Pot calling Kettle....

Can I join you in the fire of hell?

That's where both of them should end up. They contribute nothing to the advancement of humanity.

And so the campaigning begins once again

Given what happened with Huawei (a blame campaign with only evidence of the contrary) I am merely wondering what they are trying to deflect attention away from.

The Huawei 5G affair mainly allowed equipment to be swapped over with kit that was inferior (Huawei was years ahead - which also makes it less credible that it was merely copying tech), but more 'US friendly' (read: most likely backdoored to hell and beack because having Microsoft everywhere was clearly not enough), so I'm wondering what the aim of this effort really is.

Note, I'm no friend of China (especially not with respect to Taiwan), but I intensely dislike being lied to by hypocrites. Well, by anyone really, I'm just tired of the political BS and the holier-than-thou rubbish.

The simplest interpretation could be that this is just what it is said it is.

Companies knocking on the head social media accounts that promote the three Ps - Polarisation, Populism, Post-truth - which in turn feeds your cynicism

FB and G while public companies are also tools of the US government. The difference is the US gov is not as active at enforcing anti gov views as the chinese but they are both spying for the NSA etc.

      Re: 4000 accounts?

4,789 Facebook accounts ... a small portion of this network's accounts ... a further 13 accounts and seven Groups ...

So that's not even 4000, this report is Orwellian by its very definition. What's the *REAL* story here ?

Of course I know (China bashing by the CIA/NSA/Five-Eyes/NATO preemptively) but why does ElReg participate in that ? On the other hand ... considering how Julian Assange is treated here, may-be we're in usual propaganda territory.
