    Does it mean Cambridge will save money on heating this winter?

    I hope the fans won't sound like air strike siren.

    On the other hand Intel CPUs are easy to upgrade and future proof - you just have to replace the sticker stating the model and overclock a touch every other year.

      Strangely enough, there is a large district heating project(*) planned. I don't think it involves any big number cruncher though.

      (*) For various university buildings and Kelsey Kerridge IIRC.

    Interestingly, Paul Calleja, who was quoted in the article, will proudly tell you about how he he ditched a load Sun E25K boxen and replaced them with a load of Dell servers and shot into the Top500 for the first time.

      Funny that, given that the Top500 chart for June 2003 shows Cambridge Sun systems with entries at 199, 200 and 201.
