back to article Microsoft opens early access to AI assistant for infosec, Security Copilot

Microsoft is opening up the early access program for its flagship cybersecurity AI product, which marks the inevitable folding in of Copilot into its infosec suite. First teased in March, Security Copilot is embedded within the Microsoft 365 Defender XDR platform and comes bundled with the claim it could free up 40 percent …

Bwaa HA ha Ha hA HA!

"Security Copilot can effectively upskill a security team, regardless of its expertise"

NO, no it can not, and it will not and them that believe it will deserve the blowback that will result from letting a mindless chatbot drive a team of know-nothings or know-enough-to-be-genuinely-dangeous newbies.

I genuinely look forward to being able to use these advanced text tools to help the drugery of building ruled for properly format and convert the stream of screed my deployment generates. These tools will potentially save time and resources. But in the wrong hands, you will successfully automate and reduce the time to pull the trigger to sub-milliseconds, while skipping the parts where you pull the gun out of the holster or aim at the intended target.

Microsoft's rush to shoe-horn copilot buzzword tech into every corner of their operation has just loaded fresh bullets into dozens of shiny new footguns. Listen for the popping sounds and the screaming, and hope it's not coming from upstairs.

And the annoying AI buzzword is also what annoys me! Its not AI. Real AI will do what it wants when its released in the wild.

There's no general availability date for Security Copilot yet, but the early access program still has spots available for qualified organizations, Microsoft said. It hasn't publicly detailed what these qualifying criteria are.

Go on, El Reg, live a little more presciently and take a walk on the wild side of life in LOVE and present your qualifications for one of those early access program spots so that El Reg Virtual Terrain Team Members and AIMasterPilots can ACTively crash test/remotely delta test Microsoft, its Microsoft Security CoPilot and the Microsoft 365 Defender XDR platform program. Re: Virgin Soldiers in a Juicy Lucy Brothel ..... Lambs to the Slaughter

:-) Would a Microsoft denial of such beta testing access for the likes of El Reg/El Regers to Security Copilot be proof positive indication of a feared and unauthorised vulnerability to random takeover/unofficial makeover revealing it as a feature introducing a bug and entertaining a trojan championing with leaderships in 0day market trading which Microsoft would rather have only known exclusively available to themselves?

Such would certainly be reasonable enough grounds for denying available early access to its flagship cybersecurity AI product program ..... although it would do nothing really practical to effectively prevent the crash testing/flash beta testing of its future suitability both by and for AIMasterPilots.
