back to article International Criminal Court blames spies for 'targeted and sophisticated attack'

Unknown intruders broke the International Criminal Court last month in what the Hague war crimes tribunal described on Friday as a "a targeted and sophisticated attack with the objective of espionage." The break-in, which the ICC detected five weeks ago, "can therefore be interpreted as a serious attempt to undermine the Court …

    J’accuse .....

It also warned miscreants may conduct disinformation campaigns targeting the court and its officials "in an effort to tarnish the ICC image and delegitimize its activities."

Should the ICC not target and aggressively pursue certain well known individuals widely thought by the international community to be responsible for the ordering of war crimes actions resulting in the death and suffering of countless thousands of innocent civilians in the most very recent of Palestine/Israel conflicts, is their image forever indelibly tarnished and their activities rendered farcical and reprehensible.

      WTF?

      Re: J’accuse .....

Do the upvotes and down-votes here suggest an indication of the number of system administrators and cyber criminals reading El Reg? If I was posting this at least four or five years ago I would have had to add the joke icon in those days.

That describes all of Hamas and other Palestinian groups carrying out terrorist attacks as well as those Israelis who are ordering and carrying out collective punishment against Gazans. Not sure why all the downvotes, it is absolutely true that everyone responsible for war crimes actions should be a target of the ICC, whichever side they are on. And since amanfrommars didn't specify any particular side in his post, I can only assume that all the downvotes are coming from people who reflexively assume that accusations of war crimes are being aimed at "their" side by "the other" side.

Weird how human psychology, particularly the mechanism of projection, works!!!

I think the problem may be that you'll get many different answers to the question. Some may say the leaders of Hamas, others may say the leaders of Israel, whilst yet others may think the leaders of the American military-industrial complex or even more possibilities.

Will the ICC be looking into the events in Gaza?

There will never be any evidence that Netanyahu engineered the whole thing - beyond his policies of always escalating the conflict.

After all, whats the value of a few thousand of his own people versus securing his grip on power?

No genuine evidence. I would not put it past certain criminal groups to manufacture some though..

    Grinding on....

"Putin's state" sounds awfully like generic propaganda. Bad quality propaganda at that.

I'm not Russian so I don't know about popular opinion there but I'm pretty sure that he's won elections to the job of President in the past and is quite likely to win them in the future. As such he's likely to be far more legitimate than our (US) President and certainly a lot more so than the UK's Prime Minister.

The ICC has become yet another partisan hack of low to zero credibility. That doesn't bother me, though, because as an American we don't have any truck with that sort of thing unless its to our advantage.

    Perhaps it's Russia

making it look like it's the US making it look like it's Russia. Alternatively...

The ICC had undermined itself by becoming the lapdog of American Exceptionalism.

How long did it take to open the case on Russia in Ukraine? What about Israel in the occupied territories-- it will never happen?

Just waiting for a case against Hamas while giving the white card for Israel.
