LOL, a good question reminding me of psychedelic rock music (The Dark Side of the Moon) but the science side is fascinating too, what could have been the environment that created an asteroid that has a very large amount of metals, not just a collection of stellar dust, and which metals? Was the Asteroid belt created when an early planet collided with another one and we're just seeing the majority of one of the planets cores?

    COLD gas thrusters running hot?

I'm assuming hotter here is relative? I wouldn't expect COLD gas thrusters to be running at pretty much not a lot over absolute 0 after expanding from the tanks to near vacuum.
