back to article ChatGPT will soon accept speech and images in its prompts, and be able to talk back to you

Following an upgrade, ChatGPT will allow users to upload images, speak to the chatbot, and hear it talk back. The latest features will be rolled out to paid subscribers and enterprise customers in the next two weeks on its web, iOS, and Android apps, and later for the free version, OpenAI announced on Monday.  With new …

    F, M, K, ChatGPT?

I'm deeply concerned that AI bots may ruin 4chan. We must raise our concerns with the Ministry for Difference Engines at Westminster.

It's all in the eyes. If OrbAI can look into eyes, it can read your mind, and tell you who you are.

The Register has asked OpenAI for clarification on whether it would be collecting users' voices and images at all.

    Reliance

People are going to start relying on this stuff: whether it's for artificial companionship, making decisions when they can't be bothered to, writing emails or even chat replies, or just passing the time. This is already happening, and it's only going to accelerate in the years to come. As AI technology continues to develop, it will become more and more difficult to distinguish between human and artificial interactions.

The problems will start when we really can't tell who we're speaking to. More and more people will stop using their brains. In much the same way that the parts of the brain that deal with navigation do apparently atrophy when satnavs are relied upon, we will lose some ability to critically think about stuff. This is a very real concern. If we become too reliant on AI, we could lose our ability to think for ourselves. We could also become more susceptible to manipulation and exploitation.

Here are some specific examples of the problems that could arise if we become too reliant on AI:

    - We could be deceived by AI systems. For example, an AI chatbot could be programmed to impersonate a real person, such as a friend or family member. This could be used to manipulate people into giving away sensitive information or money.

    - We could become more isolated from other humans. If we spend too much time interacting with AI systems, we may start to neglect our real-world relationships. This could lead to loneliness and depression.

    - We could lose our ability to think critically. If we always rely on AI to make decisions for us, we may start to lose our ability to think for ourselves. This could make us more vulnerable to making bad decisions.

      This is already happening.

I have to argue with your assumption that most people use their brains now.
