back to article X may train its AI models on your social media posts

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, updated its privacy policy this week stating that it may train its AI models on user posts. The new policy is expected to come into effect on 29 September. "We may use the information we collect and publicly available information to help train our machine learning or …

As the Jargon File notes, the standard unit of bogosity is the microLenat. The Lenat itself is far too big for practical use.

    What could possibly go wrong?

After all it worked so well for Microsoft when they tried it

Fortunately, Musk's twixters are renowned for their level-headed analysis and rigorous fact-checking.

.. and wonderful, level headed, non-expletive laden content with logical structures and clear evidence of applied intellect.

Why does Musk need an AI trained on that debris? So he can get rid of the few users that are left?

Tay had to be "trained" by users interacting with it to learn racism and Nazi ideology. Thanks to Musk letting the worst of the worst back in, a Xitter AI that scrapes the platform can be born knowing all that good stuff on day one!

it may train its AI models on user posts

I guess I deleted my account just in time, last month. I got tired of the drama, and more importantly, the constant changes in the UI showing less and less of the people I was following.

We (as a business) nominally have a Twitter account but you have to log in to see it now, so I don't. It now counts for bugger-all in our world.

  5. Mostly Irrelevant

I can't believe anyone still uses this thing. Maybe most people really are as stupid as Elon Musk seems to think they are.

The fact that they were on Twitter, presumably of their own free will, suggests that they probably are.

    its still Twitter

    > "X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter"

Elon and his company can try to rename it all they want. They are only in the position to make suggestions. Most people still call it Twitter, therefore that is its name.

See what happens if you enter "x.com" into your browser address bar.

No wonder people still call it Twitter, that's the name they see every time they go there.

Hate to crap on everyone’s little anti-Twitter 5 Minute Hate but I’ve been using it more often since they stopped censoring conservatives.

Conservative: I have been censored for my conservative views

Me: Holy shit! You were censored for wanting lower taxes?

      Me: So....deregulation?

Con: Haha no not those views either

      Me: Which views, exactly?

Con: Oh, you know the ones
