back to article CEO Zooms through the bad news on Q2 earnings call

In between upsetting some in the open source community and its own workforce, Zoom managed to crank out a set of financials that show it might be more than just a web conferencing flash in the pan. Sadly

Inspite of its Chinese and even CCP ties, companies still continue to use this app. Its well know to the "hipsters" I hear it spoke of at work. Unfortunately the powers that be don't listen and it will be continued to used even in sensitive areas.

    Zoom? Teams?

Meanwhile, devs and engineers at <workplace> all use Slack. (

PS: Teams is still mandatory for video calls when manglement is involved

PPS: It still happens occasionally that dev from <off-shored country) asks "what is Slack?" The poor sods.

They are all equally shit and a pain in the arse.

I'm concentrating, I don't need interruptions every 2 fucking minutes especially from marketing and sales wankers or stupid fucking bosses

    Needs subtitles

MS Teams has subtitles and it's hilariously bad. Zoom needs to implement this. It's a great way to make boring meetings more interesting.

For some unfathomable reason this reminded me of the ending of the '85 Terry Gillam movie "Brazil."

Quoting from the movie's wiki article:

'... this "happy ending" is a delusion: it is revealed that Sam is still strapped to the torture chair. Realising that Sam has descended into irrecoverable insanity, Jack and Mr Helpmann declare him a lost cause and leave the room. Sam remains in the chair, smiling and humming "Aquarela do Brasil" to himself.'

Until now I didn't know that Tom Stoppard was one of the writers.
