back to article Opportunity NUCs for Asus to continue Intel's mini PC line

Asus looks set to take on the NUC brand from Intel, saying it aims to form its own NUC business unit to manufacture, sell, and support the line of mini PCs. Re: Nuc-Nuc

not sure if the 10% markup over Chinese no-name crap like Minisforum/Beelink (which randomly shut down due to overheating and shitty power supplies) can be really considered "overpriced"... NUCs are just rock solid and people (and enterprises) are more than willing to pay for the quality and the peace of mind

We have Intel NUCs in most of the video conferencing suites at work. I don't have exact reliability figures, but they are quite heavily used and seem quite reliable.

My Minisforum AMD Ryzen 5 unit has been working just fine here for months now, thanks. That is, after (1) removing Windows and (2) using the latest Linux kernel as only the new release of Debian supports the Wifi and Bluetooth chipset in it..

I have some first gen NUC still trucking along. Some still have hard-disks (gasp!). They just run and run.

If they're so hard to catch I'm not surprised they're still around :)

I think history dictates that the post-Opportunity NUC cost should be double your money.

And I mean that most sincerely.

I'm pretty sure that was Michael Miles...

So I'm not going to give it 5.

I assume all this really means is that the NUC sized PCs Asus already makes will get rebranded?

I expect the ex-Intel Nuc and Asus' "own" teams are about to go to war to survive as a division...
