"to understand reality."
And then have the patience to explain to Elon? Is the man showing some self-awareness at last?
"These deadline claims are short, those deliverable products are far away"
Elon Musk is founding of his own AI company with some lofty ambitions. According to the billionaire, his xAI venture is being formed "to understand reality." Those hoping to get a better explanation than Musk's brief tweet by visiting xAI's website won't find much to help them understand what the company actually plans to do …
"What if it tells him to pay his bills?"
There was just a story about Elon being sued for $500mn of unpaid severance due to ex-Twitter employees. He and his companies are also on the receiving end of a $258BN lawsuit over Dogecoin. Elon may not have enough money in cash to pay his bills. If he sells remaining Tesla stock that isn't already pledged as security on loans and lines of credit, he could wind up with not enough votes to survive a serious challenge to his Tesla CEO position.
Yep, I'm sure that your little computer program will succeed where countless generations of physicists, philosophers and poets have "failed".
The grandiosity of his compulsive desire to get the most attention in every field that catches his attention is getting tiresome. I'd love one of the team to phone him up one day and go "It's working! It's working! It's actually deduced the truth by itself! But some may find it a little offensive..". When he says "Fuck the anti-woke crowd - tell me what it said" they can send him the output which reads "Elon Musk is a tedious egotistical asshole".
Reality is simple: It's what you see when you stop smoking dat ol' wacky tabaccy. ..... jake
Is the fact/possibility that there be myriad alternative realities available to everybody and any body not simply delivered to you by a toke, jake?
And that realisation can be problematical for all manner of established status quo commands to control and deny ‽
Who?
Top people
Jared Birchall seems to be one of those spooky people that "fixes" things for the big boss when he receives a nod/wink. Jared is the CEO of Neuralink, the company that has lost all of its scientist founders other than that one that had twins of Elon's.
I'm waiting to hear about a government subsidy for AI or a development contract RFQ for the military coming out. At that point, xAI will have a more focused mission statement that matches precisely what the government check writers will want to see. In the mean time, there needs to be loads of free publicity and expensive downtown offices so the company will be invited to bid.
Just a few months ago, Elon was calling for a pause in AI development. That goes to show what a poor thinker he is. When these sorts of things get going, it's like trying to stop a locomotive with a level crossing barrier. Was his demand so he could catch up with a company of his own?
xAI is just another distraction for the king of major distractions. Elon gets all revved up without any clear plan and just goes at it. He's been flailing around with making changes at Twitter as if he had no plan on how to make improvements after mass firings that are having legal repercussions not to mention the loss of the very people he likely needed to implement changes. His flying grain silo is a hot mess and anybody that knows some first year physics can likely guess what's going to happen to his "not-flame trench" steel plate if he's allowed to hot fire another rocket in Texas. He's barred from testing in Florida at Pad 39A. Starlink has a poor business case and word has leaked out that it's doing much less well than their dimmest projections. SpaceX might wind up in real trouble if investors stop plowing money into the company. Tesla has been doing better than expected, but their models are getting long in the tooth. Most of the big companies that make large trucks either have electric versions out or will have soon. The big names in pickup trucks are already shipping and even startup Rivian is in serial production as the world wonders when Tesla's odd Cybertruck will actually ship (forget the promises). The Boring Company? I've only heard of one current project in Las Vegas and lots of drink/drugs go on in Vegas so their acceptance of Elon isn't a solid data point.
Bit sad that if this AI goes and gives Musk an explanation of reality, it'll fall on deaf ears. Or whatever that elongated muskrat has instead of ears. He is just not capable of understanding things in the real world. He lives in the fantasy world of cars with video games on their (solitary) screens, rocket ships for the masses (well those with masses of money) and shopping malls on Mars. He's a deluded twat
