Why don't they turn this inwards and identify the flaws in the OS and all the other products they produce to make the whole operating environment more secure in the first place? There should be an international standard for software security that has to be complied with BEFORE a product can be sold - it it should cover hardware too. Big fines if found to be sold without full compliance.
They still ship a default config (even on home edition non-domain joined PCs) with RPC available over TCP/IP and a remotely accessible SMB server. They also include a bunch of rarely-used consumer orientated functionality persistently enabled by default (inappropriate for business scenarios) even on the Enterprise edition.
I too believe that lot of security problems with Windows persist because it’s profitable for Microsoft to leave things unsecured out of the box.
Then they will call it "Threat Intelligence" and..
1/ Sell all your intellectual property to "customers" via a paid portal
2/ Partner / Bribe law enforcement agencies
3/ Get richer in the process and not give you a dimme

MS defender can't auto delete emails with phishing links, can't send alerts for firewall violations, can't send alerts for unauthorized USB devices. MS can't do security for crap. Every day I learn to hate MS even more. You would think with dozens of great AV tools out there, MS wouldn't miss so many basic functions, but they do. it's like they never looked at what other companies do, and just made up junk to make as many portals/pages as possible to aggravate techs, but look cool to Managers who don't understand actual work,
I now think MS engineers hate MS more than anyone else, intentionally making it a bad product so everyone else will hate them,,, it works.
