    Clearly not enough dust storms where it is which helped Opportunity last so much longer than the planned.

    The fact that the Chinese landed a craft, deployed a rover and operated it for several months is already a huge success. Very few nations have been able to accomplish that, the U.S. being the only nation that has done so consistently. They also got it right the first time.

    and I thought China had plenty of experience with sandstorms to do their testing in a real environment.

    Perhaps sand and dust are two different materials?
