    Meh

How many new customers does Oracle get?

It seems to me that while their strategy might produce good numbers in the short term; long term, it is going to kill off their business.

The Barnum effect is quite powerful.

      You might be right.

I work for a massive Oracle customer. It is going to take several years, but we're currently ditching them and replacing their nonsense with SAP's nonsense.

    What SaaS Customers want...

I doubt that it has been said in the last 10years+

"I wish my SaaS provider were more like Oracle"

I'm an Enterprise Architect and anything Oracle is alarm-bells to me. If Salesforce start behaving like Oracle then I need to start shifting workloads away from our SFDC estate before they start holding us to ransom.

Didn't Benioff quit Oracle because he no longer agreed with the culture? Ah marketing bs you say? Colour me surprised.

Are SF going to start following the html standard for field inputs to 255 chars instead of 100 char limit?

I have never seen so many get so little for so much as our clients who are with SF, or any enterprise CRM etc. Especially SAP (SF at least works and obviously uses a normalised db).

    Bye, bye Heroku!

Good thing we were already on our way out the door--I'll be certain to accelerate things as much as I can.

    More Oracle like, eh?

Does that mean customers can look forward to their subscriptions jumping 5x -> 10X a time and random extensively long license audits as well as arrogant sales people?

    Of course it does dear!

Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, appears to be borrowing strategies from Oracle to deal with the business' current issues, which include the necessity to eliminate about 10% of its personnel. Benioff has discussed talking to people and getting guidance from experts to help resolve these problems and reassure investors. It will be intriguing to observe the precise actions Salesforce takes and how they affect future business performance.
