back to article Classiq to school academia in quantum computing with help from Microsoft

Microsoft has partnered with quantum outfit Classiq for the launch of a research and education program that offers educational institutions access to Classiq's software platform and Microsoft's Azure Quantum cloud. According to the Redmond giant, Tel Aviv-based Classiq has selected Azure Quantum to be the launch partner for …

    No understanding needed?

"The pairing enables quantum researchers and educators to focus on application development uninhibited by low-level code [...]"

One of the greatest dangers of reliance on tools-based training as opposed to understanding of principles is that outputs from the said tools can not be readily validated. This happened long ago in fields where use of statistics packages have in general superseded informed application of statistical techniques, and the dangers are exacerbated in the AI arena as the transfer functions of the tools are essentially non-transparent. In the absence of a groundwork of understanding about the ways the tools arrive at their results, there are going to be lots of questionable conclusions based on their outputs.

"in readiness for when fault-tolerant systems become available"

Hmm. As far as software is concerned, if you're dealing with a system where all possible values are automatically and instantly computed, I'd think that your software would be fault-tolerant by default, else it would crash.

Quantum computing is a very, very curious beast.

That is not what quantum computers do. Not at all.

It's harder to tell apart quantum and scams every day

So they are offering training for a software simulation of what they only hope may be possible, when running on a non existent quantum cloud?
