back to article China’s Baidu reveals generative AI chatbot based on language model bigger than GPT-3

Chinese web giant Baidu, which has “AI” in its name and has made AI the focus of its hyperscale cloud, has revealed it will launch a generative AI chatbot later this year. Chinese media reported the launch and Baidu confirmed it to The Register. “The company plans to complete internal testing in March before making the …

Yes, Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment, but it is for Premium Bonds, not the National Lottery. Premium bonds is a bit like a lottery except the prizes are generally much lower, and you get your "ticket" price back even if you don't win.

Instead of receiving a steady rate of interest payments, you get paid sporadically, and tax-free. Maybe next month I shall be a millionaire.

        Kind of.

When I was very small my parents invested six Sterling pounds into premium bonds for my future.

At the time, that was about a week's pay.

        Today it's still £6.00.

Could it be revenge for the Opium wars? Brits will feed their Premium bond number into it and the Chinese gummint will then switch the ownership so they win £50 pounds every once in a while?

When I first moved to France it used to amuse me to play this game with humans of the French persuasion.

Me: Who invented the pneumatic tyre?

        Johnny Frenchman (confidently): Michelin.

Me: Who introduced potatoes to Europe?

    plausible, but wrong

"Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration (Ernie)"

Even as capitalised that makes ERKI, not ERNIE. The omission of "through" is entirely arbitrary. It should be ERTKI.

It's pretty obvious that the words themselves were selected in order to make the backronym, so massive fail all round.

Was it suggested by the chatbot itself?
