back to article Microsoft squashes Windows 11, Server 2022 bugs with preview patches

Microsoft has fixed a problem caused by the Windows 11 version 22H2 update that crashed the Remote Desktop application on some systems. The resolution to the issue came this week in Redmond's KB5022360 preview cumulative update among more than a dozen other fixes and enhancements. This was Microsoft's C update for January, …

Still haven't fixed my pet bug about inaccessible local shadow copies since June 2022. I use them, with a script to create one every four hours, and thin them out the following days so you can have three month with only 40 snapshots on a server. Non-server Windows sadly force-cleanups those after seven to fourteen days, depending on the version. See "Event ID 95, Volsnap". With no way to prevent it.

So I am still stuck with either 21H2, or I advance ahead to a 252xx.xxxx, aka future 23H2, build where this bug, and quite a few others, are already fixed. My prediction last Septemper was "Probably February". We'll see whether MS can do or will give up fixing and repeat the "good-build shitty-build" cycle.

    large, multi-byte files?

Presumably single byte files are small enough they bypass the cache anyway

MS ticked me off right now

    "New updates available" - Windows 11 22H2.

Oh great, now they want to roll out a Windows versions with known bugs which kept me from installing 22H2!

Re: MS ticked me off right now

The first time ever I have to block an upgrade. From Windows 7 to Windows 8.0, 8.1, all Windows 10 versions since 1511 (including some insider builds), Window 11 21H2 (including insider builds), all fine, but Windows 11 22H2 - Nope.

Set this policy to block the upgrade (German Windows).
