back to article China aims to grow local infosec industry by 30 percent a year, to $22 billion by 2025

China's government has declared the nation's information security industry needs to grow – fast. A document with the catchy title of "Guiding Opinions of Sixteen Departments Including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Promoting the Development of the Data Security Industry" was issued last week, setting …

"an ambitious program to scale the industry at 30 percent compound annual growth rate"

Yes, because in security nothing says success like an arbitrary financial goal.

    Oh, and blockchain ?

Guys, if you actually manage to implement blockchain successfully where security is concerned, that will indeed be an achievement.

Not sure. If they stick to open standards, avoid paying the Microsoft tithe and in general stay with the open model (whoch needs more security standards, btw) they could make a difference, and a seriously profitable one at at that.

We have wandered into a quagmire where business and government decision makers still believe the assurances of companies like Microsoft despite ample, decades long evidence of the contrary so maybe they can do better.

Yes, I'm wary (as anyone in security should be), but I also keep an open mind.

I trust what I can verify. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yup. And supply source code for inspection. Of course if they're successful, they'll be sanctioned and banned. But those generally only apply to a few countries, and China's been doing deals with the RoW that's happily ignoring the West's economic suicide pact.

I just hope China brands it as 'Corvette', for the ultimate in information security.

Just as long as China both masters command and control of, and avoids falling itself into the Wacky Wild Western trap exposed to peer review and indignant denial both here, and in the earlier post elsewhere quoted below, which presupposes and vitally requires that advanced intelligence and greater general knowledge is both blocked and resisted and ignored in native emergent populations, will it fare a great deal better than anyone anywhere ever even imagined being possible to lead the future and other nations too ...... so 'tis something of no little significance and importance.

And joining that Long March Program is absolutely certain to be an almighty joy ..... or at least a vast improvement on current decimating operations and depressingly vacuous opportunities with western flavours and ingredients.

        amanfromMars [2301160944] ..... points out on https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/will-aseem-malhotras-appearance-be-bbcs-most-viewed-program-2023

The primary role of the BBC, whenever corrupted and perverted, is as a British Brainwashing Corporation to inform, educate and entertain the masses with the expenses supply and expensive delivery of the desires of A.N.Others more fully aware of the freely available teleaudiovisual facility/ability/utility ...... and as is the nature of all media operations trailing and trialing elitist opinions and exclusive views anywhere/everywhere.

Ignorant masses just love the stale cake and media circus shows their slave owning ring masters are required to provide in order to survive and prosper, and such explains why previously so few searching intelligent questions on such alarming matters were never asked and aired on paid for mainstream media channels?

Nowadays though such is a burgeoning pastime and entertainment field in its own right ...... and great cause for establishment concern and gravely to be regarded with the loss and/or denial of its command and control.

And one does have to ask, what are Western Central Intelligence Agencies and Secret Intelligence Services doing about their complete lack of Advanced IntelAIgent Leading Supply? It is almost as if they truly don't have any to exercise and provide, and that would be much more that just a national disgrace they would have to accept responsibility and accountability for ...... although you be sure there will be many within their ranks and strutting around top round tables vainly pleading their innocence for that deficit and catastrophe.

Any amount of offensive tooling done by other peers, is just a fraction of what NSA+CIA+FBI are currently doing, to try to level the game.

I think the acronym clubs are to busy playing party politics to worry about international interest.

Education is not skill or motivation

I couldn't work in IT in china, always being scrutinized, under crazy threats by government. It's so anti-motivational. Just being creative can be seen as a threat. This is why very little is developed and most tech creativity is stolen and brought to china, no reason to put in the effort. Not like if you do good you can buy (and drive) a car, or travel. I mean, might as well wash dishes for a living. Much safer off the radar.
