    So now that MariaDB is just another corporation

    Why am I supposed to use it? Initially it was forked due to very misplaced ideas about what Oracle would do with MySQL. Now it joins the corporate ranks.

    I've got the code, you've got the brains. Let's make lots of money.

    I hope...

    that the SPAC they used works out better than the one Donald J Trump used with Truth Social which is close to going bust big time.

    Then the question is...

    How long before they start charging a licence for using it? IF they do then a lot of work will have to be done to remove it from a lot of GPL-compliant distros.

    With the market conditions, it's going to be damn hard for startups that don't have a business model …

    You'd expect it to be hard at any time for a company without a business model to get funding. Except that's just how the underpant gnomes of Silicon Valley expect everything to work: shower someone with lots of other people's money and the business model will come eventually. Fucked up!
