    Workstation without M1/M2

A bus station is where a bus stops,

a train station is where a train stops.

In my office I have a workstation.

    What more can I say.

With the work that Asahi Linux project is doing, sooon we will finally have a proper OS supporting those extended aarch chips. And by that I mean once the driver support has propagated down to OpenBSD ;)

Lenovo have been shipping (decent) AMD cpus and DDR4 in their L-series Thinkpads since 2020, so it would seem they have resolved the issues that prevented them from putting them into the other Thinkpad ranges and upgraded the memory to DDR5.

The P16s Gen 1 with Ubuntu (and decent overall specification) can be had for less than £1500 inc VAT using coupon BACK2SCHOOL* on the Lenovo UK website.

I don't buy new (mainly because I despise all vendors). But I do look forward to some of these filtering down through ebay :)

I don't want thinner and lighter

When I want a "workstation" I want a graphic and 3d capable monster with a 17" screen, overflowing with ports, the ability to connect at least two external monitors, and RAM and drives and battery I can access, replace or upgrade easily at will.
