Possibly, although in fairness there are fascistic tendencies and digital big-brother moves rather nearer to home

    Why would you ?

With the world economy looking grim, it's easy to hold off buying a new phone that does pretty much the same as your existing one

Well, once everybody's got a smartphone, yes, you run out of people to buy smartphones.

      Also... Why upgrade?

I'm running a 5 years old phone - it still works OK. I still get OS updates. I may get a new one this year if only to get a better camera and bigger screen. But then again, I might not. It's not even money that's the issue. The old one "just works".

The industry just needs to get together and have their politicians ban screen protectors and cases

    Finally some sense.

Obsession with buying a new phone as often as possible? I do my bit to save the polar bears and rain forests by only ever buying second hand mobiles.

I've had a Samsung S7 second hand on a TESCO $7/month sim contract, had that for 4 years until I got a little frustrated earlier this year and the phone took the brunt of my rage, oops. So I bought a perfect condition, second hand Samsung S9 for a £130 off eBay, shoved in my TESCO sim and sorted, should do me for another 4-5 years service so long as I keep my temper in check.

Unless you play games or use apps that must have state of the art mobile hardware, no way I'm having phone companies fleece me out of £65/month for 2 years just so I can wank off in public with the latest model for next 9 months untl they bring out the next one.
