    I suspect Jessica Lyons Hardcastle is more likely to have been named for the 1973 Doobie Brothers instrumental than to have been around when the contemporaneous title referenced in the lede by an aged subeditor appeared.

    Well, it's a good thing that no malware, or any other app, can ask for permission to use the microSD card in Android 11+ without heavy throttling. Because that would... Um.... OK, not sure how recent API lockdowns for "security" are stopping malware. Could Google be making the changes only in self-interest? Nah, I must be paranoid.

    Another good argument for a locked-down, walled-garden approach to apps and app stores. And I’m not kidding. It’s ok for tech-savvy types like us, who can do a reasonable job about keeping our devices safe, but not the average Joe who will download any shiny-looking app and just accept any access requirements asked for with no idea what they mean.
