      Thankfully not to be involved spaffing money on making semiconductors. Instead the UK can buy them from the global market from Asia and the US/EU supply subsidised by their tax payers. Aka benefit without the cost

        With the kind of low-volume, non-custom semiconductors that the UK manufacturing sector would need, they can can just order a few bits 'n' bobs from Maplins.
