So now "...a bill that aims to improve how the federal government tracks and prosecutes cybercrime..." but spam, QAnon, phishing, et al, are still seen as just naughty free speech. I support free speech but not free lies or what is effectively just cyberprofiteering attempts.
Yes, an attempt to stop cybercrime is a good start, but it's like putting just one shoe on each of your kids when the family goes for a run up a mountain.
What you call lies others call truth. And vice versa.
There are many examples from the past six years of the mass media proclaiming a certain truth only to admit later on that they'd intentionally lied. For that reason alone I can't support trying to suppress voices that dissent from the accepted "truth".
"Spam, QAnon, phishing..." one of these things is not like the others.
Spam may be illegal in some cases in some jurisdictions, but there's not nearly enough clarity or consistency about these laws to regulate it meaningfully. QAnon is just free speech, it's fine unless it crosses the line into incitement or some other related offence.
Phishing, on the other hand, is flat out criminal. No ifs, ans or buts.
