back to article Former NHS AI leader joins US spy-tech firm Palantir

US surveillance-tech supplier Palantir has hired a one-time director of AI for NHSX – the former UK health service digital agency. Indra Joshi quit her role at the end of March as NHSX and NHS Digital were merged into NHS England, a non-departmental government body. Her arrival at Palantir will raise concerns among NHS …

Just wait for it, will probably make headlines soon:

      ---

Parlantir awarded another contract for £75m to run NHS England.

Ex NHSX's Indra Joshi to be in charge of operations.

      ---

This followed by a completely unintelligible speech by no. 10's actual tennant attempting to explain that which has no logical explanation.

I have met her several times

And discussed her achievements with many of her colleagues.

The consensus was that you would be lucky to get her to work for you.

If someone chooses to work for Palantir I do not want to work with them or in any sort of close proximity to them. Scum, the lot of them. Don't give me everyone needs to work, if Palantir will hire you then you shouldn't have any issue getting a similar job elsewhere.

    Palantir

Somehow, I think that this world would be a much better place if disgraced companies were torched to the ground and their company leaders with them.

    But that's just my opinion.

In any case, another bright mind lost to Humanity.

    Congratulations, Peter Thiel.

    The silence of the MPs

    -> US surveillance-tech supplier Palantir

Not a single word from 'our' MPs about everything and everyone being under surveillance from a foreign intelligence company, when that company is American. That should tell you how much the entire political establishment has been subverted.

Subverted, or simply don't give a rat's arse about the people they are supposed to represent?

Have you actually drawn your MP's attention to this? Unless they understand the issues this will look just like BAU for the revolving door.

If your MP's are cut from the same cloth as American Politicians, then they will probably be tech illiterate lawyers who need help desk to set up zoom for them. So they will not know who or what palantair is, who peter thiel is. Hell they probably don't even know the lord of the rings reference.

    How do we verify ...

that information given to Palantir will not then be used for non NHS purposes or given to USA spooks ?

    'Best and Brightest'

"Palantir hires the best and brightest people from public and private sector organisations around the world."

So claims everyone else. OTOH, they are hardly likely to claim "We hire whoever is available, and scrape the bottoms of the barrels when necessary".

Was she a success at NHSX, or does Palantir just want the connections?

      Re: 'Best and Brightest'

No one was a success at NHSX. That’s why it was closed down.

I would be surprised if she is still employed once the ink is dry on the NHSE contract.

I was watching the NHS Palantir platform in action yesterday and was surprised how clunky and slow it is, however it works and that puts it several leagues ahead of anything anyone from NHSX has touched.

It's an ok system. Most of it is easily replaceable with open source components though. Yes, it does suffer from performance issues though.

I hope they went though their pockets when they left the building

Wouldn't want a stray USB drive accidentally loading a copy of the NHS database into Palantir right?

That never happens to you UK types right? Especially not the ones in Cambridge?
