back to article OneWeb inks deal to launch its LEO satellites from India

OneWeb has agreed with the commercial arm of Indian Space Research Organization, New Space India Limited, to deploy its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) broadband satellites from the country's launch pad outside Chennai. The launches from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, on the island of Sriharikota, north of Chennai on India's east coast, …

    That's a nice lie, Johnson

-> next-generation 5G telecoms ... – the UK and India are leading the world

Er China is about 1,000 times ahead of the UK for 5G. Part of this backwardness is due to Johnson's slavish servility to his birth country. Good dog. Here's a bone for you. Don't eat it all at once.

    Inks Deal?

Once upon a time this publication would use proper English and say 'Signed a deal'.

Send these terms back to the USofA along with all the others. It is a 'Railway Station' not a 'Train Station'.

We can do better than this.

I know that I'll get downvoted to hell for this but the Grumpy in me has just had enough of this wokeness.

She might actually be American and therefore be writing in her own dialect. It would be unnatural for her to adopt British English. The Reg may have to hire more British/Irish reporters to make you happy.

There is no such thing as British English. There is English, and there are other varieties of English such as American English.

English is like British postage stamps - we don't have to put a name on them.

Errr... they've always used "inks deal". Uses of the phrase on the site date back over twenty years to 2001, see https://search.theregister.com/?q=%22inks+deal%22

        That doesn't make it right.

"Inks" is not a synonym for "signs". The verb "inks" means to colour or darken with ink. Which is generally a very undesirable thing to do to a written contract.

I’m guessing the Governments around the world are the only people still ‘signing’ deals - with the photo/rolling news opportunity- as everyone else will be using DocuSign (other eSignature solutions are available).

    Performative Johnson in India

Is he looking for Indian billionaires to replace Russian oligarchs?

Can you imagine the Gammon Brexiteers faces when BoJo signs a deal for Visa free access to the U.K. for Indian Tech, Health and Social care, warehouse and farm workers.

That’s the prize India is holding out for despite your sound bites of JCB factories in Gujarat, British Apple Exports and ‘really good prices’ of Wind-Turbines.

Yes. It will be GLORIOUS! Can't wait for family, friends and colleagues to have an easier time getting in to the UK now.

Thanks to all those who voted Brexit for easier travel from India. As has always been Priti's plan from the start.

It probably means you'll be seeing many more Indian nurses and doctors . . .

          Racist Brexiteers won’t like that.

Anyway, the initial problem can be resolved with white Ukrainian refugees before opening the floodgates to mass Indian Visa free work.

            "Racist Brexiteers won’t like that."

This is your second post on here specifying brexit racists. Racists from either side would likely have issue with it but since the UK is one of the least racist countries in the world its probably not such a great problem.

You seem wrong, in you analysis. But no matter. Plans for eased visa requirements for Indians are on the cards. So we'll hopefully be seeing a large influx of long term visitors from India very soon. So your (incorrect) sense of injustice will get balanced out by that. Personally I can't wait for this, which Priti Patel was promising in India even before The Brexit.

    Flog OneWeb

Surprised BoJo hasn’t flogged OneWeb to Amazon so they can catch-up with their Starlink competitor… yet to get off the ground.
