The National Egos of the planet are having a scuffle, and they don't care if they knock over the whole place to settle their cold war scores. How I wish humanity could just outgrow the nation state; it just isn't worth the grief it causes in the modern age.

Sounds more to me like they're being Putin's useful idiots.

"Western warmongering" etc : they've been fed the story unremittingly that the West is circling and encircling Russia in an endless relentless campaign to do them down, to weaken and humiliate them. Look at interviews with ordinary Russians -- perhaps half of them or more accept this as fact, as just a fundamental truism about the world.

Chinese ordinary-people (including a disturbing proportion of the diaspora) get the same, a lot believe the same. (eg, I have a Chinese friend who _knows_ that Tiananmen Square is just a Western myth. She smilingly shakes her head at how misinformed&gullible we are.)

The "useful idiot" problem is the reason I get "over"agitated about Western media outlets that present destructive/antagonistic fictions as fact, that create nice simple but false worldviews in large groups of people. Yes, you can discover they're fictions by investigating more widely, but few people do: they _trust_. The outcomes are at best suboptimal and all too often highly negative.

A saving grace of the Western world-rewriters is that they focus internally rather than externally. That is, on internal status dominance/elitism rather than dominance over entire other nations. So at least they don't screw over noncombatants in other countries, merely the noncombatants in their own.

So, is the "Nvidia RTX LHR v2 Unlocker" really a malware bomb or has Nvidia's cryptocurrency hamper system been defeated and this is just a scare story?

I'm sure a quick spin of a VM or bare-metal PC would soon reveal the truth. In fact, I'm sure someone has already done it.
