    Dell has profits compared to challengers

    Always appreciate the negative tone when Dell is being analyzes here on el reg. When smaller challengers like Pure, Rubroke or others present hundreds of millions of losses (presented as "new funding" rounds), the reader would think they are on the brink of generating profit, fast moving and ignoring the fact these "start ups" are from 2009 and 2014. Legacy by now!

    I've heard that some network equipment vendors have a backlog measured in quarters...

      Well, I ordered a bunch of Dell monitors in August 2021 and they're currently promising delivery in June 2022 which is nice.

      Just in time for my working at home people to come back to the office I would imagine.

      And not low numbers of quarters either - standard networking gear now seems to be anywhere from 3 months to 1.5 years! Hard to predict, the delays seem to vary wildly from model to model, across all vendors. Order in small numbers and you might get lucky but for any kind of bulk order you probably won't get it fulfilled this year now.
