Apple kowtows to China and, I assume, America, which once considered banning TikTok altogether, will kowtow to Apple.

Of course there is no chance of the Chinese Government wanting certain "concessions" in order to allow such listening technology to be deployed to less than "fullest advantage."
I'm in Canada and I don't trust the voice translation "services" provided by Samsung, Apple, Google, or anyone, for that matter. Nor will I trust such technology unless and until all the data processing can be done on the local device without opportunity for interception.
