        The victim of a crime is never to blame. Unfortunately the average joe is not interested in tech news, so doesn't even read the warning or news stories about these attacks

          Indeed! The average Joe is totally overwhelmed by all that and happy when (s)he gets some vaguely intelligible instructions (s)he can actually follow without a dictionary. Things like don't trust this or never do that are way above his pay grade.
