What is wrong with a 404?
Perfectly good in my day.
I dunno, the youth of today...
Facebook-owned Instagram is to start testing a new feature which informs users they may not be able to post or view snaps of dinner, memes, selfies, or whatever it is people are interested in showing off to others because the service is broken. The announcement follows a high-profile outage that affected the entirety of …
Or the IIRR procedure (Is It Really Raining) it consists of ooening a door or window and sticking a body part outside, if it gets wet rain is a likely cause. The IT equivalent being the turning on or signing into the relavent service, got nothing? The service is probably out, assuming your equipment is functioning.

MacOSX has now been out longer than Classic MacOS was at the time it was obsoleted.
Windows XP was released almost 20 years ago (25th October). When Windows XP was released, Windows 1 was 16 years old. MS DOS 1 was just over 20 years old.
On 8th January next year, we will be able to say that there is more time between that day and the launch of Windows XP than between the launch of XP and MS DOS.
If Instagram is your job, it's important. You don't just sit in front of a workless laptop screen when you can't connect to your work VPN. At least, if your boss asked if that's what you'd do, you'd lie and say "no". If you're your own boss, it's a bit harder to not deal with that sort of thing.
if you're getting paid for it, its a job. "IT people don't really work. They just sit in front of machines moving electrical charges around all day. They're not saving lives like nurses and doctors. Besides, it's all so frivolous. Nobody dead cares if the internet works, and we're all going to die. A solar storm could wipe it all out in an instant one day anyways."
It's an easy (and sad) game to play, belittling the jobs of others.
"They're not saving lives like nurses"
Who get shit pay, long hours, increasing amounts of abuse for things they have no control over, and damn near zero respect. Back when the pandemic was at its worst, everybody felt good by clapping. How about provisions, supplies, PPE and funding?
They'd probably have less stress and more pay trying to cut it as "influencers", so your point is...?
