Windows 11 really is a 'Microsoft meets Kim Kardashian' moment, in terms of software development/marketing.
Maybe, but notice realising more and more that these "productivity software", "new, new, new!", "revolutionary", "can't miss", "exclusive" thingies... erm... take more time that the stuff you needed to do to begin with. Ah well, it all has more to do with "creating needs" than "saving lives" I suppose...

Honestly there are no more bells and whistles in Microsoft's new paint since Windows NT 4. It is all lipstick on a pig.
If anything, it has regressed because you now need to explicitly select foreground background color when choosing color rather than left/right click due to restrictions for consumer tablet users.

Windows 11 reminds me how when the PS5 came out, and Sony threatened to shut down the PS3 PlayStation store, so I splurged 50c on a MotorStorm avatar image (before they’re pulled). But then I also discovered how thoroughly the PS3 had been hacked and cracked, and there’s some really damn good games to be had for nothing! It’s still a hot-damn system for which they seem to have stopped meddling with, and you know what?
I’ve discovered how much I hate endless software meddling.
To the extent that, goddammit, I’m going back to Windows 7.
I probably don’t need any more software innovation anymore, of any kind.
It all works just fine the way it is!
Just compare the startup time of Windows 10 1511, compared to Windows 10 21H1, and you have to ask, for what exacty?
It must be 10 secs+ added on, for 21H1, on some older core2duo hardware with an SSD, running at SATA2 speeds.
Some much bloatware/intrusive telemetry, monitoring everything and anything, in Windows 10 21H1, and the same, going forward with Windows 11.
What happened to just storing the bare minimum, same with Government, don't they realise that all this data collection costs real money in terms of cloud storage? And importantly, on a subscription/data upload/download basis.
In the perfect IT world, the idea is for law-abiding individuals to have has little interaction with Government as possible, thereby storing as little as possible. Thereby costing taxpayers as little as possible.
When will Government/Companies learn that storing information just because they can (eg.the utter demeaning and intrusive application for Universal Credit as an example), then never doing anything useful with that data, storing it indefinitely is utterly pointless and bloody expensive, in the scheme of things.
But then, it also stops those genuinely in need from claiming, not wishing to give up their privacy, maybe that's the whole reason behind the massive data grab and why I never want to work on another Government project ever.
With all that bloatware, spyware and [cough][cough] telemetry, it is surprising that there are any CPU cycles left to run user applications.
They (MS that is) is really taking the piss. Do they honestly think that we are all idiots? Don't answer that. There are too many beancounters who have been bamboozled by MS's claims and promises for them to switch to another OS without major grief for those beancounters.
MS is a lost cause at my company. macOS for the laptops and Linux backends. Saved us a packet in MS licensing. More than made up for the cost of the Crapple hardware.
