back to article Samsung's foldables fall to more realistic prices and harden up

Samsung has revealed a new pair of foldable smartphones at prices that are no longer outrageous to city traders, but still up there, at $1,799 and $999 respectively. The new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 don't diverge far from Samsung's foldable template. The former is a clamshell with a screen on the front and a larger …

I think many may have a somewhat different definition of the word to Simon.

Or perhaps Inigo Montoya is proven correct once again...

Given that their first gen folding phone was $2500, I guess they are less outrageous in comparison to that...

    WTF?

    Not outrageous? Hahaha...

Is the next article going to revisit the apple stand and wheels and suggest that the $1000/$700 price tag on them is very reasonable?

I fail to see the point

I have had all sorts of faddy things, and in that I include the first Nokia Communicator which IMHO doubled as a self defense thing to knock people out iwth (v2 was *much* better).

Why? Because they had utility at some level.

I honestly fail completely to see the point in a foldable, and that is even if I ignore the fact that as an engineer I would wince every time I folds its screen, a problem I never had with the best foldable of all time, the V3 RAZR. There is no "killer app" or application that it has - there's no problem it actually solves.

So no, not for me. And at that price, not even as a curiosity.

Big screen. That's the point. A tablet in your pocket. While many people don't care, others do and now there is a viable offer if they have deep enough pockets.

I thought the point was to make it fit smaller pockets?

        Oh, wait.

        :)

    Marketing missed an obvious tagline

    Get Samsung: Get Bent

(And that's not even in reference to the shenanigans of Lee Jae-yong)

right now they are outrageous, but when that hyper inflation hits....
