back to article eBay cyberstalking victims sue internet tat bazaar over former staff members' campaign of harassment

A couple from the US who run a small ecommerce publication have launched legal action against eBay accusing the company of a "coordinated effort to intimidate, threaten to kill, torture, terrorize, stalk and silence" them to muzzle their coverage. Contrition after the fact

"The misconduct of these former employees was wrong, and we will do what is fair and appropriate to try to address ..."

<sarc>That's a clear expression of concern and a powerful and very specific promise of action, isn't it.</sarc>

But what's most startling and disturbing is that (allegedly) nobody at the company noticed this going on.

Rather like, err, Wells Fargo, dont'ca know...

When management plays the "Nothing to see here, move along!" card, whilst they hold their nose and stare at the quarterly reports, it is just AMAZING what can happen 'without [our] knowledge'.

I read about this story ages ago and couldn't believe what the ebay employees in this case did. Good grief. If you have an issue with somone post a rebutal, ignore it or, if what they say is untrue and damaging, then take legal action. Don't send them a pig foetus, insects etc.. You have to be a top level fool to do this, even if you somehow thought it acceptable, as you are very likely to get caught (as proven).

As for eBay: Your managers/staff did this so do yourselves a favour: Do the right thing and settle it and be generous when you do as we all know you can afford it and the Steiners deserve it .

This is on par with the toejams that decided that they didn't like the name of the new Audacity fork, so they came around to harass the developer.

      People are assholes.

The article at Ars Technica goes into more detail. They say that the Ebay security official blamed corporate drinking culture and a personal drinking problem. We are told that Ebay had a bar that opens at 3 p.m and that some people take shots already in the morning. Not very convincing if you ask me, and also very classy on Ebay's side.
