    So the Chinese Internet firms, which did so much to consolidate the iron grip of the CCP over the chinese internet space, are now finding that the CCP wants to take more of an iron grip over them as well. Should they really be surprised?

      These are not firms in the Western sense of the world - these are state run organisations disguised as "companies".

      The "Network Security Review" type of things, is just a theatre for the West. CPC can do whatever they want with those organisations.

    China claims it has 989 million internet users, yet 1 internet property claimed 1.2k million monthly users. I assume that’s 1.2k million unique users.

    Are those extra 211 million unique users from outside China?

    That would be an interesting finding on it’s own.
