The world of Formula 1 racing was livened up over the weekend as the sport's official app sent out some unexpected notifications on the eve of the Austrian Grand Prix. The first simply said "foo" and was followed by another saying "Hmmmm, I should check my security.. :)" Users of both Android and iOS versions of the app …

I got this on two devices, both with push notifications off. Expected the first "foo" to be followed by "bar" and then "baz".

Have worked with APNS in the past, and sending a message is not trivial.

Apple, rightly, have a couple of barriers in place, to prevent miscreants from hijacking it. Knowing the unique (to that application) ID to send a message to is one thing. And there's rate limiting on that API

This looks like some internal testing, given the Foo. If it's not, then there's been a breach.

Announce that Verstappen had been disqualified and Norris's 5 second penalty had been cancelled. That really would have caused uproar.

Cancelling the five second penalty would not result in uproar... go round the outside there and expect to be run out of road.

The only thing the stewards got right was being consistent and penalising perez twice as well

The only clip I saw of F-E was a street circuit that looked barely wide enough for one car to pass another. Maybe the rest of the circuit was wider? If not, I'd image it's not too exciting.
