I blame tRump for normalising this BS

'Department of Science Technology and Army' !!?? I think that pretty much sums it up. When you combine government science and technology departments with the military, that sends a loud and clear message. Strong arm, wannabe tyrants are all the rage these days. Closing down news and media is basic training at despot school.

This BS was happening way before Trump came along. He just learned from the masters - Russia, China, most of E&SE Asia.

Is that actually the case? I read it as needing an Oxford comma in there - the activity was carried out by the Department of Science and Technology, and the army. As is stated later in the article, DOST provides services and such to other government departments, so it's simply that the army is using DOST resources, not that they're part of the same department. Given how the Philippines are* currently run, I'm sure the army have their fingers in plenty of pies, but they haven't gone as far as officially merging them yet.

*Should that be Philippines are or is?

    Thank <diety>

The USA has taken such a strong stance against such oppressive governments.

Otherwise some may link the complete inaction with the huge US military presence in the region, but no, they are are taking a very firm stance in this matter. I hear they MAY be thinking of not inviting the embassy's cleaner's auntie to dinner next week as a show of strength.
