Authoritarian = insecure
Xi's insecurity no doubt. Xi's a little man, a CCP member in the right place at the right time. Fears criticism, fears being found out. Fears discovery.
Jack Ma criticized a bad Xi policy, so Alibaba had to be dismantled and Ma disappeared from public view.
Here 13 other companies are getting a warning. Xi's insecurity requires they decapitate any company that gets so big, in case the leaders of those companies can be seen as more successful than Xi. Shouldn't Jack Ma be running China, as successfully as he ran Alibaba? Not this minor civil servant?
It's a pattern repeating over and over again. Not good for China, just Xi keeping Xi in power at the expense of China.
And of course, you could never possibly be allowed to say this if you were in China, and that's a sign of just how weak he is.
Authoritarians like Putin and Xi are really weak men afraid of words.
