back to article Chrome and Chromium updated after yet another exploit is found in browser's V8 JavaScript engine

Google has announced new updates to Chrome 89 following the discovery of yet another live exploit for a vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine. One of the flaws affects V8, which in January was found to suffer from a heap overflow bug severe enough to prompt a round of updates. This time round the V8 vulnerability is …

This is why a monoculture is bad

It's also why I continue to run Firefox.

I use Brave and Firefox. Brave for day to day browsing, firefox for anything involving money.

It shows how difficult it is to write secure code

Which is precisely why the model of "it's running under your user id therefore should unquestioningly have access to all the resources belonging to that user id" is broken and has been broken since networks existed.

Application code is complicated and contains errors. That should no more be expected to cause unintentional access to user resources than it should be expected to permit access to kernel space. Operating systems need to catch up: it's no longer the 1960s.
