I'm aprehensive...

"To get the latest WSL 2 kernel updates via Windows Update you need 'Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows' checked in Windows Update Advanced options."

Wish they had a separate tickbox for just the WSL parts.

It appears that this url (Step 4 - Download the Linux kernel update package) gives a way to download directly, if the delivery package was updated.
