Better late than never, right? HPE CEO Antonio Neri has at last congratulated Joe Biden on his victory in the US election, taking the opportunity to urge his administration to focus on digital transformation. "Congratulations to you and Vice President-elect Harris on your historic election," wrote Neri. "It was truly inspiring …

    Needs a favor?

Is this the iteration of HP that wants a certain British ex-CEO extradited?

    Clever move

Biden will have to spend a fortune on HP printers, after Trump hears about this letter and orders every one currently in use destroyed with sledgehammers.

This HPE, a completely separate and different company to HP. When will people get that?

    Politico-Economic HQ moves

Moving its headquarters closer to Washington may also help matters.

    San Jose, California

    Houston, Texas

    Wilmington, Delaware

Is this the same HPe that does the NMCI contract of the US Navy/Marine Corp and can't even provide enough computers to cover their customer base along with some of the worst customer support I've ever had to deal with. If I was Biden, I'd give HPe a hard pass!

    1. Burnett75

No that is HP the printer and laptop company. Completely different organisation and complete separate.

Any kind words from Putin or Trump yet.

PS. I have a feeling that those upset by COBOL never used it for any lenght of time, or is it just that I took the tools handed to me, then long ago, and used them best I could without complaining.

Hmm, then again I have never complained about the colours of my girl friends either.

Nowt wrong with COBOL (or Fortran, for that matter).

Most financial institutions use 'em for a reason.

It's fashionable to laugh at them because "old technology", but you still use products preserved by fermentation, right? Still use a knife, fork and spoon? Listen to the radio? Some things really don't need updating in order to continue doing the job they were invented to do.

I feel sorry for the folks who laugh at COBOL and Fortran because for the most part they are dreadfully ignorant on the subject, and have absolutely no interest in rectifying the situation.

They will probably get them, too, because jobs (which will immediately go away when The Board notices there is money available for bonuses).

Write dead-tree letters if you care, politicians pay no attention to email.

Write dead-tree letters if you care, politicians pay no attention to email.

Ever since the anthrax attacks in 2001, even physical letters are just scanned-in an viewed electronically by all major politicians (their assistants, actually).

It's the physical act of putting pen to paper that causes politicians to pay attention, because that (and spitting on a stamp) takes effort. They see email as being just another meaningless, effortless Internet rant. Most likely because it usually is.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, given that almost every major tech co bends over backwards to the PRC government in order to get access to their citizens, there are probably easier targets to go after.
