back to article Need a hobby for lockdown? Perhaps check out the CMOS battery

One benefit of lockdown in the UK has been a surge of national creativity, be it in the form of rainbows crafted from a variety of materials or the sheer quantity of excuses created when faced with a Joe Wicks* workout. But it seems not even a temple for the arts and crafts is immune to the curse of bork. Snapped within a …

I expect a better standard of signage from a creative design company.

They are waiting for Tim Cook to be so enraged by the omission that he buys the company in order to add the magic prefix.

That's odd ... I didn't notice an improvement in the Usenet signal to noise ratio 16 years ago. Nor that of The Internet in general. In fact, I'd say it has been getting steadily worse Internet wide as time goes on.

So no, I completely disagree. It's still September.

Why does everything have to remind me...

That Joe Bloody Wicks is still a thing...

Thankfully working full-time from home has given me a good excuse not to see him again. He's also insufferably cheerful.

I'm happy with my corpulent mass thank you kindly and don't feel the urge to get to the basement via the front room floorboards.

    It's almost Friday isn't it?

I probably shouldn't mention then that right now he is doing a 24 hour PE-athon in aid of Children in Need...

I did see that this morning. Admirable I'll admit.

It's one hell of an effort to go to though to have a day without the kids...

        Mines the sweatshirt thanks...

    Back to 1980

All those devices conspire to bring back date to that of 01-01-1980 here. They're in league with the gremlins to both deplete my supply of 2032 batteries and hid the minature screwdriver set required to get at the holders.

Then of course you finally open up the device and find it's a PCB mounted one and there's no holder....

Just had something similar with a Cisco router. Dusted of one that had sat on a shelf for ~5 years only to discover the RTC said 1-1-2010.

"Why are you using stationary to order batteries?" "Well its either ~£10k for a new router or £5 for a couple of packs of CR2033 batteries"
